Set up DNS-over-HTTPS

Pick your platform, paste your DoH URL, and you're done. Encrypted DNS lookups travel over port 443 — indistinguishable from regular HTTPS — to the Dnsium resolver you provisioned.

Platform-by-platform walkthroughs

Every step uses the values from the quick-reference card above. If you opened this page from your dashboard, the hostname is already filled in for you.

Windows 11

Windows 11 supports DNS-over-HTTPS at the OS level. Each network adapter is configured separately.

  1. Open Settings → Network & internet, then pick the active adapter (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and click Hardware properties.

  2. Next to DNS server assignment, click Edit and switch the dropdown from Automatic to Manual.

  3. Enable IPv4, set Preferred DNS to your server IP, and set DNS over HTTPS to On (manual template).

  4. Paste the DoH template URL exactly as shown:

    https://your-server.dnsium.com/dns-query
  5. Save. Open a Command Prompt and run nslookup example.com to confirm queries resolve through Dnsium.

    nslookup example.com
